Designs of the Decade

1960's

The 38F5-1/4 O.P. engine becomes a U.S. Navy mainstay for shipboard auxiliary power.
  • Designed in the mid 30's the 5-1/4" bore abd 7-1/4" stroke diesel engine was a smaller brother of the 38D8-1/8 O.P. engine.
  • The U.S. Navy took shipment of 170 engines with ratings up to 717 H.P. for emergency ship service and auxiliary power.
  • The 38A6-3/4 O.P. with a 6-3/4" bore and 8" stroke was also built for Navy service. About 21 were sold.

Skid Packaged Peaking Power for Utilities - The power module concept was designed to meet the need for "low cost add on" power units for the growing demand in utilities markets for additional power during peak load periods. The units were available in 1500 KW, 2000 KW and 2665 KW. Four such units could add a maximum of 10,660 KW to peaking loads.
