Wisconsin Central Ltd. Algoma Central Railway

WCL, Chicago Subdivision, Lake Villa to Antioch.

This is a shot of the new Metra platform in Antioch, IL. Metra service from Chicago to Antioch is scheduled to begin on August 19th, 1996. This is the same location as the old Depot and platform. The coach yard is about a mile north.
Here is the lead off the main line going into the coach yard. The far north end of the coach yard is actually across the Wisconsin border. The steel box to the left of the switch is a new forced air switch heater.
Metra 7 has been up on the Chicago Sub a few times the last few weeks spreading ballast and several other jobs. Here they are headed back south to dump a few more cars of ballast at the Soo crossing in Grayslake.
Here is Lake Villa. Metra 7 is in the siding waiting for another engine to pass. The new Lake Villa Depot is being built to the left and the platform is also already built.
Finally WC 6003, an Ex Algoma Central unit, makes its way to Schiller Park. Usually don't see light power running on this line.
Here we see the E,J&E empties with WC 6523 leading. This is Grass Lake Road, milepost 53.03, there were a few signal maintainers replacing some of the road crossing signal equipment. With Metra running on this line soon, most of the signal equipment is being upgraded, and all road crossings having gates added.
Right after 6523 went by, WC 731 passes after picking up a crane at Lake Villa.
Here is the "American" Crane they picked up, with a very noticable flat spot on one of the wheels.
